Two guys in their 40's having the time of their lives before it's too late. Singer songwriter Gav Roberts, strumming that acoustic and singing with a throaty death-growl one minute, the voice of an angel the next.
Brett Alexander Robertson, playing congas like you've never seen before, thumping away like 'Animal' one minute - as if the instrument itself was a means to his own catharsis - and stroking gently the next, creating the sound of soothing, lapping waves on a desert island at the moment when you realise you are not the last person in the world left alive.
And the songs? The songs! Emotionally-laden lullabys for grown-ups about love, loss and hope whose melodies still oscillate in your brain like a Leslie speaker when you wake up the next morning. These guys somehow manage to make failed relationships feel good despite their insistence that no subliminal messages are ever used live or in their recordings. Yeh, right!
With an EP and album already under their belts as well as a live BBC recording, 2010 looks set to see The Lullabys soothe the broken hearts of many up and down the land. Or even further than that. Sleep tight."
